Now-a-days if one is asked to name some of the most popular drinks, one is likely to tea of tea first. It is very refreshing and invgiorating. It is really a good stimulant. It is undoubtedly, the most frequently used drink of the modern time,

Tea plants grow well on the hilly regions, where rain water does not stand. Tea grows in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, Japan, Indonesia and India in plenty. In Bangladesh tea mainly grows in Sylhet and Chittagong.

The Man Who Wanted To Live Alon

A long time ago in a small village near the jungle, there lived a young man called Ruplal. He lived with his family and worked on a farm, but there were a lot of problems.

The village people were always quarrelling, so there was no peace. I’ ll wither have to go and live and alone in the jungle, or I’ II go completely mad!’’ Ruplal exclaimed. ‘‘I don’t want to stay here one more day!’’ So he colleted his things and went to live by himself in the jungle.

Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp

Once there was a young boy called Aladdin.He lived with his mother in a rich city of China. His father was a poor tailor.He died when Aladian was a child.His mother had to spin cottonto support the family.

One day Aladdin was playing in the street.All of a sudden, a stranger came. He said to Aladidn, My boy , are you son of Mustafa, the tailor ?''Aladdin said, ''Yes , sir, but my father is dead.''At this tears came into the man's eyes. He said, I'm your uncle. Your father was my elder brother,''He gave Aladin two pieces of gold. He said, ''Go and tell your mother to cook some food. We will eat together.''Aladin's mother was surprised. She did not know Aladdin's father had a brother. But she cooked a good dinner. 

The Farmer and the Magic Goose

Once upon a time, there lived a poor farmer named Abul Mia. He lived in a village. He grew vegetables and sold them in the market. But the money he got was not enough. One day he bought a goose. He thought, ‘‘I’ ll sell eggs and earn some money. Then with that money, I’ ll buy some more geese. I can earn more money by selling more eggs’’. He  kept the goose inside his room . It was a magic goose. Next morning, Abul Mia saw a gold egg beside

the goose. He was very happy. ‘‘I don’t have to worry any more. Now I can buy enough food for all of us.’’ From the on everyday the goose laid a gold egg. Abul Mia sold it in the market at a good price. Soon he became rich. He bought a big house. He lived there with his wife and children. They had good food to eat. They had fine clothes to wear.

An Ideal Son

Bustam is a province of Central Asia. Hazrat Bayazid was born in Bustam. So, he was popularly known as Hazrat Bayazid Bustami (R). His parents were pious Muslims.He lost his father in his childhood.So he could mot get love and affection of father from his early age. He respected and loved his mother very much. Hazrat Bayazid received his early education in a Madrasha. He was very fond of reciting the Holy Quran. Once he came home to see his mother. Then his mother was ill.

Sheikh Saadi and The Robbers

Sheikh Saadi was a great poet in Iran. When he was a child, his mother wanted him to be educated. So she wanted to send him to Baghdad. One day during his boyhood he was going to Baghdad with a group of rich merchants. He was carrying a bundle of books and some money with him. The marchants took responsibility to take him to Baghdad where Sheikh Saadi would stay and get education. Then he would become a scholar. However the caravan of the merchants and traders was going to Baghdad fearlessly. They traveled for twelve days without any trouble. On the thirteenth day a gang of robbers attacked the caravan. The merchants had their valuable articles , gold , diamonds , and other thins .They had also a lit of money with them. The robbers snatched away all the goods and money from the marchants. Sheikh Saadi stood on the corner. 

Greatness of Hazrat Omar (R)

You must have heard the name of Hazrat Omar (R) .He was the second Caliph of Islam. His nobility and justice are known to all.As a Muslim ruler his greatness and justice spread all over the world.

The second Caliph Hazrat Omar (R) often went to out at night to see the condition of his country man.One night he was passing by the house of a window. The window had four children. They were crying for food. The window pretented as if she were cooking food but boiling only water. Because there was no food in her house.

The Caliph reached the house and knocked at the door.The window opened the door.He asked her why the children were crying.She replied that getting nothing to eat they were crying. She also told him that she was pretending to cook food and waiting for them to make them fall asleep. But she had filled the pot with some water. The Caliph Omar (R) become shocked and told the window not to worry. He also said that he would come back.

Charity of Hazrat Osman (R)

One day a stranger came to Hazrat Mohammad (Sm). He prayed for some money.The Prophet (Sm) did mot have much money with him. So he gave him a small amount that  was in his pocket.The stranger did not become satisfied with that small amount.So he demand more to the ProPhet ,The ruler of Mecca and Medina.He wished to have a good amount of money.However the Prophet mentioned the name of one of his Sahabas and told him to go to him in the evening. Taking the address the stranger went to the house of the mentioned Sahaba if the Prophet .

An Honest Poor Man

Once upon a time there lived a poor man called Suruj Ali.He was an honest ,hard working man and looked after large mango orchard.The owner of the orchard,Hamidur Rahman,was a very rich man.

one day some of Hamidur Rahman's friends came to visit him.It was during the summer season when the mangoes were ripe .So Hanidur Rahman asked Suruj Ali to pick some of the ripe mangoes and give them to his friends.

The flood is a familiar annual feature to the people of riverine countries.It is a great misfortune to the people of Bangladesh.Almost every year the people of Bangladesh meet this natural calamity.The flood is a sudden increase if water.During the rainy season,When it rains heavily,water of the rivers rises very high.Then water overflows the bank of rivers and canals and submerges roads and high ways.This unusual rises of water is called the flood.

The invention and introduction of electricity has changed man's lifestyle.We cannot think of modern life without electricity.
We see thousands machines that make our lives easier and comfortable.Every home has some form of machine or other.Many hard working tasks like washing cloths and grinding are done easily by machines.

Wonders of Modern Science

In the days long gone by man had to live constantly struggling against the forces if nature. With the advancement and modernisation  of human civilization science has worked wonders.With its help men have been trying to trance nature and utilize it to the need and facilities of life .In its rapid progress science is creating one wonder after another.

The discovery of power of power called electricity may be mentioned as the first wonder of modem science.It has brought about a massive change in human society.Electronic and electric things like radio, television, electric iron,lights ,fans, refrigerators, photocopiers ,etc work through the power of electricity.

Television

Television is one of the most important  and remarkable gifts of modern science.Its invention has brought an epoch-making change in the communication system between the countries of the world. The latin term 'tele' means 'distance' and 'vision' means sight'.Thus television means sight from a distance.It is a scientific device to distant places.

An English scientist named John Logi Beyard invented television in 1926.Its invention has killed distance and the world has been brought into the campass of our small drawing room.

The Coumputer

The computer is one of the wonderful invention in the world.It is a machine which can perform complicated work in a second.We can use it in every field of human activity.It is a greet blessing of modern science.

Mankind had to wait for a long time to get this useful machine.First of all the theory of ''Digital Calculating System'' was invented by Pascal in 1642.His theory paved the way for the invention of the computer. In  1937 Mr Haward Akin,an American scientist invented that could do difficult sums.This is considered the first step of computers.

An Orphan and The Prophet (sm)

   Hazrat Muhammad (sm) was the greatest Prophet of the Muslims.He was very kind and gracious.He loved the youngers and respected the olders very much.He had great affection for the children.He played with them ,talked to them,loved them affectionately and kissed them on their cheeks.Sometimes he took them to his house and gave them sweets and delicious items of food.

    One day there was an Eid day in his province Medina.All children were happy and joyful.They enjoyed the Eid festival cheerfully.They laughed and shouted,talked and wondered here and there after Eid prayer with their relatives and friends.

    But it was a sorrow that after the Eid prayer while the Prophet (sm) was going back home,he saw a little boy sitting in a corner of the Eid Meidan.The eyes of the boys were full of tears.He was weeping silently.The Prophet (sm) went to him and asked affectionately why he was weeping.In disgust the boy requested him not to disturb him rather to go his way.The Prophet (sm) became more attentive towards the boy and talked to him more gently.He asked the reasons of his sorrow and sadness. The boy replied that his father went to fight for the Prophet (sm).He became a martyr  in the battlefield.He also said that his widow mother married another man.He was very cruel.The man had driven away him out of his house.So he had none to look after.Now he had no food to eat ,no cloth to wear and no house to live in.
    Hazrat Muhammad (sm) was sorry to hear the boys miseries. Hearing his words the Prophet (sm).Could not but shed tears.But hidding his sorrow the prophet smiled and said why he would be sorry for that.He added that he also lost his parents in his childhood.The prophet took the orphan boy to his house.He told him with affection that Ayesha (R) would be his mother and his loving daughter Fatema would be his sister.Ayesha the worthy wife of the Prophet (sm) accepted the boy happily.Ayesha (R) gave him a clean dress and fed him like a beloved mother.The orphan boy forgot all his sorrows.He now looked as happy and cheerful as other boys were.

Fruits of Bangladesh

   Bangladesh is a country rich in gifts of nature.Fruits are one of these gifts.We are lucky enough to get different kinds of fruits all the year round.Children, adults and grown up people are equally fond of fruits.

     Bangladesh has six seasons in a year. Different kinds of fruits grow here in different seasons. Seasonally fruits are in four  classes such as summer fruits, winter fruits, rainy seasons fruits and all seasons fruits. In Bangladesh the most delicious fruits are grown in summer.Litchies ,mangoes, jackfruits,black berries,dates,tamarinds,etc are well known as summer fruits.In our country some fruits are grown in winter.These are oranges,plams,melins,etc.We have some rainy season fruits in Bangladesh.These are lemons,batabies,guavas,pine apple,etc.In our country some fruits are called all season fruits. Papayas, bananas, coconuts etc. are known as all season fruits.These are more or less available throughout the year in Bangladesh.

      Various kinds of fruit grow in plenty in Bangladesh.Some of them are large in size,others are small.Many of them are sweet and a few are sour to taste.Most of them are fleshy while a small number contain watery juice.There are some fruits in Bangladesh which are sour to taste.Kamramga,lemons,tamarinds,etc are sour fruits.Among them lemons are the most popular.We have many delicious,nutritious and well known fruit. It is famous for its taste and sweetness.It is found in almost every district in Bangladesh.The jack fruit,the largest fruit,is our national fruit.It has arough and prickly skin. It is grown well in the districts of Dhaka ,Mymenshingh and Faridpur.The coconut the most hard fruit,is found throughout the whole year in Bangladesh.It grows well in salty lands of Khulna,Barisal and Noakhali districts.The banana ,the most popular fruit of Bangladesh is grown all the year round.It is found almost everywhere in our country.

    We have many other fruits in our Bangladesh.These are dates,rigs,star apples,wood apples etc.They grow in plenty in Bangladesh.

     All fruits of our country are rich in food value.They contain carbohydrate,protein,minerals salts and especially vitamins. Fruits supply energy to out body and protect  us from diseases.We get a lot of vitamins viz A,C from many fruits which help to prevent night blindness and scurvy. Various types of jam,jelly, pickles, marmalade, etc are prepared from fruits which are very tasty and good for health.

       Fruits have great economic value.They can play an important role in our economy. We can export fruits to foreign countries . Thus we can earn much money and will be able to make our economic backbone strong.

      Fruits of Bangladesh play a remarkable role in our physical health.They supply heat energy to our body and help to develop our body.We should grow more fruits.

Problems of agricual in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is an agricultural country.Most of our people live in villages and depend on agriculture.Our economy is mainly agro-based.The few industries we have depend on agricultural products.So agriculture is the heart of our country.

Bangladesh is rich in agriculture resources. She has fertile land,fresh water,suitable climate and cheap manpower to produce crops.Almost all kinds of crops are grown on our land.We need not irrigate our land during the monsoon.We need to irrigate our fields only during the dry seasons.We have enough sources of surface water and underground water to do it.

Bangladesh is a potential for fish and shrimp culture.Buy using our fresh water we can produce more fish and shrimp.Buy expording them we can change our lot.

Most of our farmer are illiterate.But they are not ignorant.They are very clever and they are more hard working than the farmers of any other country.The increased produntion of recent years prove this fact.

In spite of many advantages our farmers have problems.The main problem is the ownership of the land.Most of the farmers do not have their own cultivable land.They do not have enough capital to cultivate the land.

They cannot buy good seeds, fertiliser, necessary machines ,tools,diesel,insecticides,etc.they cannot use electricity properly . Besides,load-sedding is another problem.Who depend on electricity for irrigation.

Marleting of a agricultural products has been a great problem for the farmers.The prizes of all crops go down during the harvesting season and go up before the harvesting period.Lack of good communication is also a great problem.

Steps should be taken to solve these problems.We have to solve our farmers problems for the sake of our national economy and development of the country.

Birds of Bangladesh

Our Bangladesh is a charming and beautiful daughter of nature.Nature has decorated her with fruits,flower,trees,woods,hills and rivers. Her climate is suitable for living of birds.So we have a great number of birds in our country.

We find many kinds of birds in Bangladesh around us.They are different in size,shape,colour and nature.Some birds are small in size;some are big.Some birds live in woods and some live in human habitation.In Bangladesh birds are divided into many classes such as teasing birds,,singing birds,tailor birds,migratory birds,prey birds, domestic birds,talking birds and game birds.

We have many singing birds in our country.These are the cuckoo,the shyama,the magpie robin tht koel,the papiya,the nightngale,the tuntuni,etc.All of them are very beautifulto look at.They are popular.

The cuckoo is the most popular.It is called the harbinger of spring.The magpie robin is our national bird. It is found here,there and everywhere.The chandana,the bou katha kao are loved by all.

We have a small number of prey birds.The vulture and the hawk are known as prey birds.They live on fish,chicken and dead bodies of animals.They have keen eyes and sharp nails.They are big in size.

There are some teasing birds around us.These are the crow.the kite,etc.They tease us every now and then in different ways.They are ugly to look at.They like dirty and rotten things to eat.

The harsh voice of the crow is very teasing.If the crow gets any opportunity it steals away foods and other things from our kitchens.These are hated by all.

The tailor birds are the tuntuni, the babui, the swallow,etc.They build their nests with great skill.

In our country we have many game birds.The dove,the pigeon,the snipe,the heron,the pankauri,the teal etc.are known as game birds.They are famous for their palatable flesh.

We have talking birds in Bangladesh.These kinds of birds can copy the human voice and speak like man.These are the parrot.the mayna,the shalik,etc.The birds which some from other countries during autumn and winter are called the migratory birds.They add beauty to our country for a short time.Our domestic birds are the pigeon,the hen and the cock,the duck etc.They are very useful to us. We get eggs and flesh from them.Besides these,We have the beautiful peacock,the sweet king fisher, the pretty wood peaker,the charming bulbuli,the owl,the bat etc.

Bangladesh is rich in birds.These are our natural wealth.Many of them arre helpful to us,some of them do us harm at times.At the dawn the dawn the chirping of birds break our sleep.It is afoyful experience.So we should take care of  our birds.

THE STAPLE FOOD OF BANGLADESH (RICE )

Rice is a kind of corn. It is a well-known corn in our country.It is people's main food. It is an annual grass. We live on it.

Generally moist climate and specially hot and moist  climate is suitable for its better growth. For growing more rice heavy rainfall is necessary.The climate of our country is so suitable for the growth of rice that it grows here in plenty.Rice grows well in hot countries.Our farmers produce much rice in our country.

Rice grows well in India,Pakistan,China,Myanmar,Japan,and some other hot countries of the world.Rice requires plain lands for its growth.The land which goes under water in the rainy season can produce large quantity of rice.Most soil is better for its better production.

For better cultivation of rice farmers have to plough the land well.Farmers plough their lands several times harrow them well.Then the lands are prepared finally for its cultivation they sow seeds.Aus is sown in Baisakh and within a short period it is harvested in Sraban and Bhadra.Amon is sown in Ashar and reaped in Poush and Magh.Boro is cultivated in Poush and cut in Chaitra Baishakh.The high yielding rice is cultivated throughout the year.Withinfour months rice ripens Ripe paddy is golden in colour.Then these are ripen and brought home.Then grains are separated from the stalks.Thus fresh paddy is got.From we we get rice - The Sidda and the Atop.

There are mainly four types of rice in Bangladesh.These are the Aus,the Amon,the Boro and the high-yielding rice.

After sowing seeds on lands little plants come out within three or four days.When the plants grow up the field is weeded and manured several times.The plant grows two or the feet high.When plants grow up in their full size the stalks of the paddy come out.

There are many uses of rice in our Bangladesh.We have on boiled rice called bhat.Different kinds of cakes are made from rice . polao,Khichuri,Payesh, and many other tasteful foods are also made of rice.

Straws of paddy are used as fodder for our cattle and as fuel.To make paper we use straws and many other things.Straws are used for roofing houses.                                                                                Rice is the most popular crop of Bangladesh.It is our main food .But the production of rice in our country is not sufficient to meet our demand.So to meet the demand of our people as well as for the interest of national income we should grow more rice.
