OUR NATIONAL POET KAZI NAZRUL ISLAM

Kazi Nazrul Islam was a great poet in our country.He is the national poet of Bangladesh. He is well known as the Rebel poet in Bangali literature.
Kazi Nazrul Islam was born on the 11th Jaistha, 1306 B. S at Churulia in the district of Burdwan.His fathers's name was Kazi Fakir Ahmed and that of his mother Zaheda Khatun.His parent lost four children before his birth.So he was named 'Dukhu Mia'.
Nazrul lost his father in his early life. So, he had to struggle hard agaunst poverty even in his boyhood.After the completion of primary education he devoted himself to religion. Then he was appointed as a teacher of the village Maktab.After somedays he joined in a theatrical party named 'Letto' and earned name and fame.
Once upon a time, Nazrul fled away to Asansol. When he was 12 years old, he became a baker'sboy.He devoted himself to music and literary works during his interval.He met a sub-inspector of police of Mymensingh who sent him to Mymensingh for education.He read upto class nine there.Then he returned to Asansol and joined a local high school.
In 1914 he left school and joined the army as an ordinary soldier.Within a short time , he was promoted to the rank of Habilder.There he wrote many rebel pomes.
From the military camps he sent many prose and poems. His first ballad 'Mukti' was a remarkable poem.'Baundeler Atma Kahini' was his first prose writing.Nazrul's famous creations are 'Agni Bina' Bisher Bashi, Rikter Bedan, Badhon Hara,Pralay-Shikha,Chakrabak,Shamyabadi,Sarbahara,Dolan Chapa, etc.Nazrul edited a weekly named "Dhumketu'.Many of his revolutionary writings were published in it.
Nazrul's writings were full of hope,energy, aspiration and revolt.He had an excellent lyrical gift.His every poem has a platform.Nazrul was the only rebel poet in Bengal. Most of his writings were full of revolutionary voice. he was sent to jail for one year for writing the poem ''Agamani''.
After hus long stay un the I.P.G. Hospital,Dhaka, he breathed his last in the 29th August, 1976. He was laid to eternal rest by the Central Mosque of Dhaka University.
Nuzrul wrote note only poems but also stories,dramas, novels, etc. His writings inspire rs to be patriot and honest. His songs are favourite to the people of all ages. Thus he has established himself in our heart.
